Mission Motors Announces Change in Leadership as Company Prepares for Production

February 11, 2010
COO Takes On Role of Interim CEO
Full Story

SAN FRANCISCO, February 11, 2010 - Mission Motors, a San Francisco based company redefining the world of performance motorcycles, announced today the appointment of Jit Bhattacharya as interim Chief Executive Officer. Forrest North, the company's co-founder who has served as CEO since the company's inception in 2007, will remain involved with Mission Motors in his role on the Board of Directors. Under North's leadership, Mission Motors made headlines when it unveiled its first product at the TED Conference in Long Beach, California, raced in the first zero-emissions grand prix at the Isle of Man, and broke the AMA electric motorcycle land speed record at the Bonneville Salt Flats. The Board of Directors has begun a search for a permanent CEO.

Bhattacharya has been with Mission Motors as COO since 2008. Bhattacharya has an engineering background including experience from the product design firm IDEO. He also holds an MBA from the Haas School of Business at UC Berkeley. Bhattacharya has been involved in energy and cleantech for over five years, most recently as co-President of the Berkeley Energy and Resources Collaborative where he helped lead the launch of UC Berkeley's new Center for Energy and Environmental Innovation. Bhattacharya is taking on the leadership role at Mission Motors at a pivotal moment in the company's history as it prepares to bring the Mission One to market, and looks to announce new products in its pipeline.

"Mission Motors have made great strides in the past two years with Forrest, achieving milestones thought not obtainable by an electric motorcycle company," said David Moll, Mission Motors Chairman of the Board of Directors. "The Board of Directors, investors and staff at Mission Motors are grateful for his contributions and pleased to have Jit taking on the role as interim CEO."

Mission Motors has targeted high performance and iconic design in the development of its first vehicle, the Mission One. Moving into 2010 the company plans to announce a new product road map and mark a deeper commitment to their racing program with participation in the 2010 TTXGP series.
